Yes, EMDR therapy can be effectively delivered via telehealth using secure video platforms and adapted methods for bilateral stimulation (BLS). Instead of in-person eye movements, therapists may use screen-based tools, alternating audio tones through headphones, or guide clients in self-tapping techniques like the Butterfly Hug. Telehealth EMDR follows the standard eight-phase protocol, with extra emphasis on preparation, grounding, and safety planning to ensure clients can regulate emotions in a virtual setting. Research supports its effectiveness, showing outcomes comparable to in-person EMDR when appropriate tools and precautions are in place.

All of the therapists and equine specialists work to ensure that clients are paired with a horse partner who is an appropriate match. The job of the equine specialist in our sessions is to ensure the horse feels safe, calm and connected throughout the session to help maintain physical safety for the participants. Horses are over 1000 pound prey animals, so there is an inherent risk to participation. As with all nature based therapies, there is always the chance of engaging with other creatures such as mosquitos, ticks, bees, wasps and snakes. Hazards may include stumbling on uneven surfaces, stings, sunburn, twisted ankle, etc. During our initial meeting, before ever engaging with the herd, we will go over ways that you can take responsibility for your own safety while at the farm.

Absolutely not. All levels are welcome and encouraged to participate. Many people trying out equine-assisted activities have never been around horses before, and no prior experience is necessary.

When we are working with the animals, we ask that you wear closed toed shoes, and if possible, no dangling jewelry. If we plan to do mounted work with the horses, we will ask that you wear long pants and a shoe with a slightly heeled shoe.

PKT wants to make therapy accessible to individuals and families with limited financial resources.  The goal is to reduce financial barriers to care and ensure that people can receive necessary medical or mental health services regardless of their ability to pay. In the event PKT is unable to accomodate a request, we will provide a referral to another clinic. We understand there may be financial limitations for many families and clients. If the prices above are not possible due to financial difficulties, we offer a slided scale payment option based on your insurance deductible and typical copay with a minimum of $50-75 per session. If this minimum is not possible or there are extenuating circumstances, please discuss this with us. If we are currently full and unable to accept new clients at a slided scale rate, we will help connect you with another therapist who has a slided scale and / or alert you should a slided scale spot open up in the future.

Yes, we offer faith-based counseling based on the client's (not the therapist's)  spiritual or religious beliefs. The client's world view is integrated into the therapeutic process. Traditional mental health practices are combined with the client’s faith perspective, often using scripture, prayer, or religious principles alongside evidence-based techniques. This approach supports clients in addressing emotional, relational, or psychological concerns while honoring their spiritual values.

We have partnered with Life In Motion counseling to refer clients to selected therapists. We can also provide referrals for psychological testing or psychiatric services.
